  7. ¶2R:   Before  we  start this interview,
  8. I'd  like you to write some short text
  9. about  yourself.  If you feel like it,
  10. you  can write your "Computer-History"
  11. aswell.

  13. ¶1E:  ¶3?

  16. ¶2R:  What hardware have you got?
  17.  
  18. ¶1E:   I  have  got an Amiga 2000 B with
  19. Kickstart 1.2/1.3/2.0, 145 MB HD and 8
  20. MB  Ram.   Further  on  I  have a 1081
  21. Monitor,   (The  good  old  one,  with
  22. better  resolution than the new 1084),
  23. a   Star   Laserprinter   LP   4  with
  24. Postscript  modul  and  2  MB  RAM,  a
  25. Robtics  HST  modem V42 38.400 Baud, a
  26. Sharp  Z60  3  colour  copymachine, an
  27. ordinary  group  3 fax (9600 Baud) and
  28. at last a brand new 386/33 PC .

  30.  So  one  can say, that our HQ here in
  31. Denmark  looks  like a little company,
  32. which  it  also  is,  though  we are a
  33. non-profit organisation.

  36. ¶2R:    You   have   been  working  with
  37. viruses/viruskillers a very long time,
  38. when and why did you start with it?
  39.  
  40. ¶1E:   It all started about 5 years ago,
  41. when  I  got  my first Amiga virus.  I
  42. stored   it  and  also  the  following
  43. viruses  I  got, so after a time I had
  44. got a big collection.  Many times with
  45. help  from  computer friends, yes some
  46. of them was drowning in viruses ,so it
  47. was  very  easy to get hold on viruses
  48. then.

  50.  In   the   beginning,  I  stored  the
  51. viruses    to    controll    if    the
  52. viruskillers  could  kill the viruses,
  53. but  after  a  while  I  had  so  many
  54. viruses  that  I began to send them to
  55. programmers      who     made     good
  56. viruskillers.   This  is  how Safe Hex
  57. International really started.
  58.  
  59. ¶2R:   Have  you  ever programmed/made a
  60. virus yourself?
  61.  
  62. ¶1E:   What.......did  you say ?, do you
  63. think I am STUPID !!!  No, it is after
  64. my   oppinion  only  potensforstyrrede
  65. (This  is  Danish,  read  stupid..-Ed)
  66. young  kids,  who  does  such  things.
  67. Most  of them don't know, that if they
  68. get  caught, they can get 4-5 years in
  69. prison.   I  find  it hard to believe,
  70. that   they  don't  realize,  how  big
  71. troubles  they  make,  when  they make
  72. such  viruses.   Today  everybody talk
  73. about     saving     our    biological
  74. environment,   but   what   about  the
  75. computer-environment?             Many
  76. generations   will   suffer  from  the
  77. growing  number of viruses, that's why
  78. computer virus must be stopped, if not
  79. we will get the same serious problems,
  80. that  we  have  with  pollution of our
  81. biological    environment.    It   can
  82. develop  into  a catastrophe where one
  83. for  example can't use a modem or swap
  84. a couple of programmes with a friend.
  85.  
  86. ¶2R:   You  are  the main founder of the
  87. "Safe  Hex" organisation.  How has the
  88. developing  of  "Safe-Hex"  been after
  89. you started it?
  90.  
  91. ¶1E:   Today  we  have about ca.  250 so
  92. called  members, it means peoples, who
  93. regular works for us and keep in touch
  94. with   us.    We   have  not  got  any
  95. member-list  or  something.   When one
  96. send  us a new virus, send an article,
  97. which   has   been   cut  out  from  a
  98. magazine, or upload our viruskiller to
  99. some BBS's, one work for us.
  100.  
  101.  But  there are also many, who has not
  102. got  the  time  for  this  work,  they
  103. donate  maybe  50$  to our virus-fond,
  104. which is a reward we have promised for
  105. the   name  and  address  of  a  virus
  106. programmer.   Today  we have got 3000$
  107. in this reward-fond.

  110. ¶2R:   Do  you  think "Safe-Hex" will be
  111. able to stop all the virus problems in
  112. the future?
  113.  
  114. ¶1E:   We  will  never  be  able to stop
  115. people from making viruses, but I hope
  116. that  we  can  stop  most  of  them by
  117. scaring them with our reward, which is
  118. on  their  head, and leave the rest of
  119. the work to the police.

  121. ¶2R:  "Safe-Hex" will give a $1000 award
  122. to   anyone  who  can  give  name  and
  123. address  of  a virus programmer.  Have
  124. you  caught  any  virus-programmers so
  125. far?
  126.  
  127. ¶1E:   No, not yet, but I don't care, it
  128. is  the preventive effect we speculate
  129. in.   We  have  got a few applications
  130. about  some guys who have made a virus
  131. for a friend or something.
  132.  
  133.  To  go  to the police, we have got to
  134. have  good evidences, which means that
  135. there  should preferably, be more than
  136. one who know the virus programmer, the
  137. virusen  must  be  wellknown, and be a
  138. real  virus.   There  are  for example
  139. made  some  pseudo  viruses  like  the
  140. SystemZ and HCS viruses, these viruses
  141. are  more a kind of viruskillers so in
  142. cases  like  this,  we  can't  use our
  143. informations to anything.

  145. ¶2R:   You  have also been complaining a
  146. about  that  computer  magazines  give
  147. false  information  about  viruses  to
  148. beginners.   Can you give any concrete
  149. examples on this?
  150.  
  151. ¶1E:    Yes,   unfortunately   all   the
  152. American  computer  magazines  is very
  153. retarded  when it comes to information
  154. about  virus and viruskillers.  I mean
  155. that  in  one  way  they  are  just as
  156. guilty  for  all  the  viruses we have
  157. today,  as the virus programmers, when
  158. they   for   example  still  recommend
  159. Virusx as the best viruskiller, (it is
  160. 2  years old and must be characterized
  161. as  a  security-risk,  if  it  is used
  162. today, (it knows about 25 viruses).

  164. ¶2R:   What  is  you  opinion about
  165. swappers/modemtraders/Boards?
  166.  
  167. ¶1E:   Yes,  what  shall  I mean?  If we
  168. didn't have the pirates and the BBS's,
  169. I  don't think it would have been sold
  170. a  fraction of the number of computers
  171. sold  today.  So we have much to thank
  172. them for, but I hope that one buy some
  173. programmes  oneselves  now  and  then.
  174. The    softwarehouses    should   also
  175. survive,   so  it  is  in  every  ones
  176. interest  that one respect eachother a
  177. bit  more than what is the case today.
  178. It  can't  work  to  chase the pirates
  179. like   the   softwarehouses  do.   The
  180. pirates,  (I  don't like this word, it
  181. doesn't  fit at all.), has done a good
  182. job  with getting the computer sold as
  183. much  as  it has.  I doubt that it was
  184. sold  more  than  2-3 %, if one had to
  185. pay  $2.500-  $3.500  for  just  a few
  186. programmes.

  188.  In  the music-industry one can easily
  189. live  with  people copying records and
  190. tapes  from  the  radio  or  borrow  a
  191. record  of  some friends.  I think the
  192. software-houses are over-reacting.
